Finish

Angelica, coriander and nutty balsawood — lingering pine with the authority of six years' ageing

First Impressions

Bols Corenwyn 6 Year Old is the premium expression of Amsterdam's original 1575 grain wine. Only Bols may use the Corenwyn name — at least 51% malt wine, aged six years in both French Limousin and American oak casks. Lucas Bols himself first created this drink.

Tasting

The nose is sweet herbal with vanilla, bark and thyme. On the palate, silky oily mouthfeel with dry herbal juniper and woodiness, vanilla sweetness and grassy coriander. The finish shows angelica, coriander and balsawood with pine.

The Bottom Line

Bols Corenwyn 6yr earns an 8 for the premium expression of the world's oldest spirits brand. Six years in dual casks creates complexity that younger genevers cannot match, and the exclusive Corenwyn name carries 450 years of Amsterdam heritage. The ultimate genever for sipping and for Old Fashioned cocktails.
