First Impressions
Only Premium Gin from Destilerías Campeny in Barcelona makes its intentions clear with the botanical bill: of eleven botanicals, the vast majority are flowers. Jasmine, hibiscus, violet, rose petals, mallow, lavender, pansy, veronica, and orange blossom — this is a gin designed as a floral experience first and a juniper spirit second. Lemon balm provides the only herb, and juniper the only traditional gin botanical. It is unashamedly, unapologetically floral.
Tasting
Eleven botanicals, overwhelmingly floral. The nose is intense — jasmine and rose petals leading, orange blossom sweetness, lavender depth. On the palate at 43%, a floral explosion: hibiscus and violet arriving first, jasmine providing exotic sweetness, lemon balm adding herbal brightness. Juniper is present but plays a supporting role, providing just enough gin identity to anchor the flowers. The finish is rose petal and lavender — gentle, perfumed, and distinctly Mediterranean.
The Bottom Line
Only earns a 7 — a gin that commits fully to its floral vision and succeeds on its own terms. If you want juniper-forward, look elsewhere; if you want to drink a Barcelona garden, this delivers. The number and variety of flowers create genuine complexity rather than a single perfumed note. Best in a Spanish-style copa with Mediterranean tonic, ice, and an edible flower garnish. At £45, premium pricing for a genuinely unique floral gin from one of Barcelona's established distilleries.
