View All (7)Scapegrace Black proves that New Zealand is a serious player in craft gin. The New Western style embraces bold flavours — pineapple, saffron, tangerine — without losing gin identity. The juniper mid-palate at 41.6% anchors everything.
16 March 2026The colour-changing trick is impressive but the gin itself is a bit sweet and tropical for my taste. At 41.6% ABV the pineapple and tangerine dominate and the juniper feels like an afterthought. Looks amazing but I prefer more traditional flavours.
15 March 2026The saffron adds a warmth and depth that elevates this beyond a novelty. Combined with juicy pineapple, bright tangerine, and tea-like butterfly pea florals, it's a complex and rewarding New Western gin at 41.6%.
