Whitley Neill Rhubarb & Ginger Gin: The Flavoured Gin That Launched a Thousand Imitators
Flavoured 43% ABV ABV Whitley Neill / Halewood Artisanal SpiritsMy go-to for every occasion
Whitley Neill Rhubarb & Ginger at 43% is my most-reached-for bottle. The tart rhubarb with warming ginger, cassia bark, and coriander spice creates a beautifully balanced Flavoured gin that never gets boring. The dry, spiced close is the perfect ending. Works in everything from G&Ts to dessert cocktails. Perfection.
Rhubarb tartness nailed
The balance between rhubarb tartness and ginger warmth is spot on. The juniper structure keeps this recognisably gin while the orange peel brightens everything. Great with ginger ale as a mixer.
Best of the flavoured bunch
Of all the flavoured gins that flooded the market, Whitley Neill's Rhubarb & Ginger stands out. The coriander spice and cassia bark give it genuine complexity beyond the fruity headline. At 43% it's properly made.
A bit too sweet for me
The rhubarb and ginger concept is nice but the execution leans too sweet. At 43% ABV there's reasonable body, but the pink sweetness masks the juniper and coriander too much. The cassia warmth helps, but I'd prefer more balance between the fruit and the gin character.
Perfect summer serve
Fill a copa glass with ice, pour this, top with tonic, add a slice of rhubarb. The rhubarb tartness and ginger warmth over ice is divine. The dry, spiced close keeps it from being cloying.
Ginger gives it backbone
The ginger is the unsung hero here. It provides warmth and spice that lifts the rhubarb from mere sweetness into something more interesting. The angelica adds earthy depth. Well-made Flavoured gin.
Crowd-pleasing flavoured gin
This is the bottle that converts non-gin-drinkers. The tart rhubarb balanced by ginger warmth is immediately appealing. At 43% it's got more backbone than most flavoured gins, and the cassia bark adds proper depth.
