Tanqueray Special Dry Gin / Bot.1970s
London Dry 43% ABVThe Golden Age of Tanqueray
This is Tanqueray as it was meant to be. The 1970s bottling at 43% delivers a depth and richness that is simply breathtaking. Bold juniper, elegant spice, and a long, complex finish. This is London Dry gin at its absolute zenith.
Interesting but Overhyped
A nice piece of gin history and the 43% ABV carries well, but I think nostalgia plays a big role in the praise this gets. It is a good London Dry, certainly, but not dramatically superior to quality modern options.
Superior to Modern Bottling
Having tried this alongside the current Tanqueray, the difference is stark. This 1970s bottling has so much more character — richer botanicals, a fuller body at 43%, and a complexity that is sorely missed today.
Seventies Tanqueray Magic
This 1970s bottling of Tanqueray Special Dry is noticeably different from the modern version. Richer, more full-bodied at 43%, with a juniper intensity that the current expression simply cannot match.
Vintage Tanqueray Delight
What a treat. The 1970s Special Dry shows Tanqueray at its best — crisp, assertive juniper with a lovely citrus brightness. At 43% it is perfectly balanced. Makes you wish they still made it this way.
A Glimpse of Old Tanqueray
Fascinating to taste what Tanqueray was like in the seventies. The London Dry profile is bolder and more assertive at 43%, with deeper juniper notes and a satisfying dryness on the finish.
Proper Old-School Gin
This is what London Dry gin used to taste like. Rich, full, and uncompromising at 43%. The juniper and coriander come through beautifully. A wonderful find for any collector.
