There are gins that speak of place, and then there are gins that carry the warmth of a particular afternoon in a particular grove. Bombay Sapphire Premier Cru Murcian Lemon belongs to the latter category — a London Dry that anchors itself to the sun-drenched citrus orchards of Murcia, Spain, and dares you to taste the difference that provenance makes.

A London Dry With Mediterranean Ambition

At 47% ABV, this sits notably above the standard Bombay Sapphire expression, and that extra strength is purposeful. It provides a broader canvas for the botanical work to unfold, lending the spirit a gravity and presence that commands attention in the glass. The Premier Cru line represents Bombay Sapphire's effort to elevate their range through the specificity of sourcing — in this case, hand-selected Murcian lemons that lend their name and, presumably, their character to the finished spirit.

The concept is compelling. Murcia's lemons are prized across the culinary world for their aromatic intensity, and tethering a London Dry gin to that particular terroir is a smart marriage of tradition and geography. I found this to be a gin that wears its citrus inspiration openly without abandoning the structured, juniper-led backbone that the London Dry designation demands. It walks a line between the classic and the contemporary with evident confidence.

At £39.95, it positions itself as an accessible premium — not an everyday pour, but neither a cabinet ornament. It earns a solid 7.5 out of 10: a well-executed gin with a genuine sense of origin, even if it leaves you wanting just a touch more complexity to fully justify the Premier Cru billing.

Best served long with a quality Indian tonic, a generous wheel of fresh lemon, and perhaps a sprig of thyme — ideally on a terrace as the evening light turns golden.

Honestly, this is everything I wanted Bombay Sapphire to be. The Murcian lemon adds sophistication and depth, the juniper is properly present at 47%, and every sip is an absolute joy. This has permanently replaced regular Sapphire in my collection.

While the Murcian lemon is certainly vibrant, it overwhelms the other botanicals for my taste. I prefer a more juniper-forward gin. It's well made but feels like it's trying too hard to be different from the original.

Bombay have taken their classic and elevated it beautifully. The Spanish lemon adds real character and the higher ABV at 47% gives it more depth. Works wonderfully in a G&T with a twist of lemon.

The Murcian lemon really does make a difference — it's more vibrant and authentic than the regular version. Good juniper backbone and a lovely sherbet-like citrus quality. Worth the premium over standard Sapphire.

The Premier Cru range is a massive step up from standard Sapphire. Those Murcian lemons add a zesty brightness that lifts the whole gin. At 47% it's got proper body and the juniper really sings.

The Murcian lemon botanical gives this an authentic Mediterranean sun-kissed quality. It's bright, zesty, and complex. The London Dry backbone keeps everything structured and elegant.

This is sunshine in a glass. The lemon character is genuine and bright, not artificial, and at 47% it has enough backbone to hold its own in any cocktail. A real crowd-pleaser.
