Beefeater is a name that needs little introduction. As one of the last remaining London dry gin distilleries still operating within the capital, the brand carries a heritage that few competitors can match. Beefeater Pink Strawberry Gin represents the distillery's entry into the flavoured gin category — a market that has expanded dramatically over the past decade and shows no sign of slowing.
Style & Category
At 37.5% ABV, this sits at the minimum threshold for gin classification, which is a common choice for fruit-led expressions designed to appeal to a broader audience. The pink strawberry positioning places it squarely in the accessible end of the spectrum — a gin intended for easy drinking rather than contemplation. Beefeater's core London Dry recipe has always been a reliable foundation, built on a well-balanced juniper backbone, and one would expect that structure to carry through here, albeit softened considerably by the strawberry character.
Assessment
I find this to be a competent flavoured gin that does what it sets out to do. It does not pretend to be something it is not. The Beefeater pedigree lends it more credibility than many of the flavoured gins that flooded the market during the pink gin boom, though at this ABV and price point of £21.75, expectations should be calibrated accordingly. It lacks the complexity I look for in a gin I would return to repeatedly, but it serves its purpose well as an approachable introduction to the category.
Best served in a long G&T with Fever-Tree Indian Tonic, plenty of ice, and a few fresh strawberry slices to complement the fruit character. Not one for a Martini.
Rating: 7.5/10 — A reliable, well-made flavoured gin from a heritage brand, if not one that will challenge the seasoned enthusiast.
